'Trump Pushes for Wall, Democrats Say He Stokes Fear for Political Gain'

USA going into even more dangerous paths as humanitarian arguments are being intertwined with securitization rhetorics on migration. Politics of fear and hate being constructed as the solution to the very violence, abuse and exploitation migrants are experiencing as an existential threat to the territorial, social and economic security of the state.

The outcome is to deepen the legitimation of force and violence against enemies of state - migrants - and reinvent the national political and social moral compass away from a human rights discourse and upon a fear and hate basis.

'A wall “is absolutely critical to border security,” Mr. Trump said, in a nine-minute speech. “It’s also what professionals at the border want and need. This is just common sense.”

The president also made an emotional pitch: “This is a humanitarian crisis—a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” he said, sitting at the Resolute Desk. “This is the cycle of human suffering that I am determined to end.”
